FRI3SER is a rhythm-driven piano trio led by Basel-based pianist and composer Lucca Fries, creating hypnotic music with physicality and emotional immediacy. Dark, droning piano textures fuse with heavy beats and bass riffs, slowly morphing and expanding into long arcs of tension. The project grew from Fries’ longstanding desire to bring his piano playing together with his love of alternative rock and metal. It took years before he suddenly had a clear sonic vision of how his rhythmic textures could combine with hard-hitting beats and driving bass riffs to create urgent, atmospheric music. Fries’ compositions also draw on club music, with elements such as morphing beats and tension-building breaks bringing electronic energy into the music. The self-titled debut album, produced by Grammy-winning producer John Davis, will be released in November 2026.
