The quintet Ikarus, founded by drummer Ramón Oliveras, has spent the past decade developing a captivating sound shaped by interlocked polyrhythms, layered voices, shifting grooves and organic improvisation. The band has released four albums and performed widely across Europe and Japan, appearing at festivals such as Jazzahead! Bremen, EFG London Jazz Festival, Reykjavik Jazz Festival, Schaffhauser Jazzfestival, Jazz Area Metropolitana (IT) and the Internationale Jazzwochen Burghausen. In 2024, Ikarus transformed into a quartet, beginning an ongoing, playful reinvention as a collective.
